Reaching for the Future
At just 18 years old, Fay has already experienced more trauma than most experience in a lifetime. Sexually assaulted at the hand of a family member and entering the foster care system at age 12 created a difficult environment in which to thrive. Being moved from foster home to foster home did not allow for stability and she found herself struggling in school and getting involved with drugs and alcohol.
She even found herself in trouble with the law and despite counseling, struggled to find a way forward.
Since coming to us here at the Compassion Center, she is a changed person. Biblical counseling and learning to put the past in the past and keep reaching for the future has made a big difference.
Now I feel more peace and confidence. I have more energy and am happy about myself. I feel wanted and accepted. The program here is amazing. I never think about taking pills anymore or committing suicide. I have a future. The Compassion Center is the right place to be.
Currently, Fay is working on getting her GED and is joining the choir. She has future goals to be a part of the ministry here and to help others who are going through what she has been through.
